What I needed to say v. 2 - final

Open the Door

It was a pretty
-- sunny --
June afternoon

I remember the sun’s ultraviolet rays
Enveloping my body when I walked out

I remember clearly
Though I’m not sure you would

I wanted to do something that day
When you fell
Would you have remembered?

When you tripped
When you suddenly lost your balance
When your head flew backwards
And hit the concrete ground --

All I could do was watch
All I could do was stare

I wanted to reach out…
Reach out and pull you right up

But all I did was nothing

I remember when you used to lift me right up
Next to the candy cabinet
And give me sweets and treats

Now all of that is gone
Your hugs – frail but firm
Your kisses – planted on my pink, blushing cheeks
Your voice – it’s been so long

So long that I’ve forgotten
Is that horrible?

But if I had --
If only I had reached out
And held that door open for you

Maybe you would be here

Next to me
Smiling

And telling me how much I’ve grown

I’m sorry I didn’t open that door for you

The Beginning

The Beginning

We stand in perfect rows
Armed with ammunition

We stand in perfect rows
Faces full of determination

We stand in perfect rows
The army comes marching towards us

A gunshot is heard
Chaos, frenzied, scattered, panic

The war has begun

Note: This is sort of based on the start of the Revolutionary War. That war really did change the world. So I wrote in the POV of a minute-man.

Lies

I hate lies

Especially liars

Yet I lie

I stare straight at their faces

And I lie

Without guilt

But I still feel it

The guilt

It gnaws at me

It taps its spidery little hands at me

It grins, cruel, mocking me

I feel its beady eyes stare

That is guilt

Yet I still lie

Because it is what makes them happy

If that is the case

If it would make their faces light up

If it would cause them to smile

If it would make everyone happy

I would smile

And lie

I would bare the guilt

I would smile

And say

"I love you"

Note: Isn't it ironic that I dislike poetry and yet my first post is a poem? This is fiction by the way. :D
